The global pandemic has caused our new normal to shift in more ways than we can count. Many of us spent holidays alone or in very small family gatherings in 2020. With things beginning to look up with the new vaccine in place, people are beginning to become more confident with light, domestic travel. If you’re desperate to get out of town for a weekend, you might think about spending a little time with your spouse, partner, friend, or children on Hilton Head Island this Valentine’s Day. Why? The reasons are abundant, but we’ll just look at a few here.
Save During the Off Season
Winters are typically mild in South Carolina, but winter is still considered the off season in Hilton Head. Off-season travel is usually cheaper and less crowded than spring and summer. That makes it a great time to visit Hilton Head Island! You might even get lucky and experience a couple of the warmer winter days, when temps can reach into the 70s.
Romantic Beach Walks
“I like long walks on the beach,” says every clichéd dating profile ever. All kidding aside, Hilton Head is the perfect place for taking a romantic stroll on any of the beautiful public beaches. Be sure to check the weather ahead of time to see if you should pack a coat or a pair of capris. And don’t forget a bag or a bucket for collecting shells and rocks you find on the beach.
Dine and Imbibe
The Hilton Head area is rife with delicious food and beverages. Go on a culinary adventure at a different restaurant for every meal. You can’t go wrong with fresh, local seafood or local Lowcountry cuisine! And for a fun date for those over the age of 21, check out one or more of the local breweries, distilleries, and wineries.
The bottom line is that there’s really something for everyone in Hilton Head. If the travel bug is giving you wanderlust after a long year short on travel, a trip to the Island for Valentine’s Day could be exactly what you need.
