Figuring out dinner for the whole family can be an exercise in futility at times, especially when you’re out of town on vacation. You don’t know what everyone likes, and you don’t know what kind of restaurants are in town. We took the hard part out of the equation and put together a list of the best Hilton Head family restaurants so you can just close your eyes and point or take a vote. No matter which one you choose, everyone is sure to be happy!

Fish Casual Coastal

To encourage kids to keep Hilton Head beaches clean, Fish Casual Coastal rewards them for helping with a free meal when they bring back a sand bucket filled with trash from the beach. Monday through Friday from 4p-6p, happy hour specials for the adults include $4 wine, .50c peel-and-eat and eat shrimp, and $1.25 oysters. They also keep the living music going to entertain the whole family every day!

Main Street Island Pub

At Main Street Island Pub on the north end of Hilton Head, every Thursday is Family Night, and KIDS EAT FREE! For each full-priced adult meal you order, you also get one kid’s meal free. They also have great prices on appetizers and drinks during weekday happy (and happiest) hours, but they’re closed on Saturdays so be sure to plan accordingly!

Salty Dog Café

Salty Dog Cafe is the perfect place for kids to have a great time with entertainment and activities like tie-dye shirt making, face painting, magicians, visits and photos with Jake the Salty Dog, and more. In addition to the Little Treasure Hunters kids’ menu in the restaurant, the dock area also offers Jake’s Salty Dog Pizza and Ice Cream.

The Crazy Crab

With an onsite playground, a massive saltwater fish tank, crab races during the summer, live music, and a breathtaking view of Lowcountry sunsets on an expansive deck, the Crazy Crab is the perfect restaurant for family members of all ages. The pet-friendly restaurant has indoor and outdoor seating, and the kid-friendly menu has all the hotdogs, burgers, mac n cheese, and pizza your kids could ever want.

Skull Creek

We’re actually including two family-friendly spots under this entry. Skull Creek Boatside and Skull Creek Dockside connect via a central outdoor that is heaven for children of all ages. While the adults enjoy a cold beer or frosty cocktail before the food comes, the kids can run around on a playground with a large wooden boat, play on foosball tables, air hockey, sit on picnic tables, and more. If you’re lucky enough to be seated on the Dockside deck, you get a full view of the play area.

Rock Fish

Rock Fish Seafood & Steaks is conveniently located in the same building as The Art Cafe, so parents can have a date night at Rockfish while the kids have paint night upstairs. Their menu has a wide variety of seafood, steaks, ribs, and a large selection of craft beer, cocktails, and wine. Bomboras Grille has LIVE entertainment and a fabulous Happy Hour! They also take reservations, so call (843) 689-2662 or book a table through OpenTable.

Top Dawg Tavern

Don’t let the name fool you! Top Dawg Tavern is a very family-friendly dining spot in Shelter Cove with a kid’s menu that includes the usual items, a side, a beverage, and even a scoop of ice cream for just $5! They also have the ‘Lil Dawg House with bubbles, a chalkboard wall, and an interactive gaming floor for those with kiddos who just can’t wait until the food comes.

Now that you’ve got dinner figured out with these Hilton Head family restaurants, planning the rest of your summer vacation should be a breeze!
