One of the best ways to experience a LOT of culture in a short amount of time is through festivals. From food festivals to festivals that celebrate the Lowcountry culture of the island, Hilton Head has an event calendar bursting at the seams. No matter what you’re into, there are plenty of Hilton Head festivals you can look forward to this Spring.

Hilton Head Island Gullah Celebration

Though it started back on January 28th, the Hilton Head Island Gullah Celebration runs through March 1st with a schedule of events that include art exhibits, concert series, poetry and spoken word, Gullah cuisine, and so much more. If you’ve ever wanted to immerse yourself in the rich cultural heritage and history of the Gullah people here on Hilton Head Island, this is the festival for you.

Hilton Head Seafood Festival

Are you a big fan of seafood and want to indulge in Southern heritage through food and drink? The Hilton Head Seafood Festival runs from February 19th through the 25th with events across various locations around the island. From a masterclass on tequila to a Pig Pickin’ and Oyster Roast, this festival has quite an eclectic event schedule!

Hilton Head IrishFest

Do you have a little bit of Irish in ya? Well even if you don’t, organizers of the 30th annual IrishFest will still welcome you with open arms! The St. Patrick’s Day Parade has grown to become one of the most beloved events with more than 25,000 spectators lining Pope Avenue each year to see the floats. Past years have featured the iconic Budweiser Clydesdales, military jet flyovers, the Planter’s Peanut Nutmobile, and the Oscar Meyer Weinermobile! Come on out to see what special guest they have this year!

Back to the food… We know the best festivals are those that are centered on food, and Wingfest is no different. There will be 20-25 restaurants cooking up more than 6,000 lbs of chicken wings for you and your family to indulge in on Saturday, March 23rd. This family-friendly event will have live music, a kid’s zone, and wing eating contests!

Hilton Head Wine & Food Festival

Once you’ve filled up on wings, stay a few more days for the Hilton Head Wine & Food Festival that runs March 24th through the 30th. Indulge in the best wine and food the area’s restaurants and vineyards have to offer. There will be public and VIP wine tastings as well as events that cater to those who prefer craft beers. Whatever your tastes may be, this event is sure to please.

Once you’ve filled up at any one of these Hilton Head festivals, rent a bicycle and take in the sights while you work off those calories. The mild weather will keep you from breaking a sweat and you’ll be ready for the next foodie fest before you know it!
