Just because you are at the beach doesn’t mean you can’t have a little culture. A trip to Hilton Head can bring you to some fine works of art of many styles and different cultures. The culmination of the celebration of art on the island comes at the end of May at the Hilton Head Art Festival.

What you will see at the Hilton Head Art Festival

The 13th annual art festival is a weekend-long affair at Shelter Cove Harbour and Marina. The festivities are on Saturday, May 28, and Sunday, May 29. On both days, the fun begins at 10:00 am. On Saturday, you can enjoy the festival until 6:00 pm, and Sunday, the fun concludes at 4:00 pm. Both days, the event takes place rain or shine. While viewing the works, you can also participate in casual shopping or dining and enjoy live entertainment. Both days will feature Steel Drum from 1-4 pm.

There’s no admission charge, and visitors are encouraged to browse up and down the promenade. Media for the art you’ll see include metal and wood, glass and ceramic, photography, painting, and more!

What you will see at the Nash Gallery, year-round

The annual art festival is sponsored by the Nash Gallery, also found in Shelter Cove, and is open with seasonal hours throughout the year. The gallery features more than 150 pieces from North American artists. The gallery features blown glass, furniture, jewelry, sculptures, ceramics, and various miscellaneous works of art. Items are available for purchase and make tasteful gifts.

If you are interested in coming to Hilton Head to see art even beyond the Nash Gallery, visit the Coastal Discovery Museum and Mitchelville for new perspectives. And if you happen to be an artist yourself, consider applying yourself to be an exhibitor next year!
