Hilton Head is one of the best destinations for a family vacation for many reasons. Shopping is good, it’s easy to get around and there’s always something for the whole family to enjoy. Here are a few suggestions for making your Hilton Head Spring Break a fun time for everyone in the family.
Shopping for the Fam
While the boys head to the beach to play some bocci ball, or go swimming, the girls may want to get away to do a little souvenir shopping, or grab a Starbucks drink and peruse the local boutiques. Drop them off at Coligny Beach and head over to Coligny Plaza. There are a great many shops, some of the best on the island, and a few places to reconvene and have lunch. You may also want to bike down to the Village at Wexford where you’ll find locally grown fare, boutique stores for adults, teens and kids, and get your nails done at the salon.
Interactive Kid Stuff
There are a great many destination tours that can be had around the island to see the wildlife, learn some history and even interact with the local animalia. The Coastal Discovery Museum comes highly recommended. The property consists of salt marshes, open fields, scores of centuries old live oak trees, the State’s largest Southern Red Cedar tree (dated at 1595), and a collection of some of the oldest buildings that exist on Hilton Head Island. From Kayaking to coastal cruises, and museum exhibits to discovery activities, this family friendly venue is sure to impress.
Date Night for Mom and Dad
Leaving the kids to fend for themselves with a deck of cards, a beach wagon or maybe just the PS2 at the hotel? Or maybe it’s just time to take a break and head to a beachfront restaurant for that dinner date Dad promised when he booked the wrong room at the seaside resort. Either way, Hudson’s Seafood House on the Docks is a great option, and was featured on the Food Network and makes it our most famous location. You could also do dinner and the theater at the award winning Arts Center of Coastal Carolina, or go see the Hilton Head Symphony Orchestra. Something a little less dramatic perhaps? The Jazz Corner might be for you. Dinner and a show, and the drinks are great!
