Sometimes, one of the best things about a vacation is the chance to shop somewhere new. The ability to find something unique you can’t get anywhere else and bring it home is a great reminder of an excellent trip. The artisan and farmer’s markets of Hilton Head can also be exciting when you can try produce or other goodies that you might not have at home. In either case, taking a day to the market could be one of the best days of your trip. Here’s where to find a few:
Farmer’s Market at The Shops at Sea Pines Center
When: Tuesdays, 10 a.m.-2 p.m.
Where: 71 Lighthouse Rd., at Sea Pines Resort
What: If you are staying at Sea Pines, you won’t have far to go for a taste of fresh and natural food straight from the farm. Local vendors bring in their stock once a week, including produce, cheeses, and baked goods. But be ready to shop for more than that, as you can also find books, décor, and artwork for sale here too.
Hilton Head Island Farmers Market
When: Tuesdays, 9 a.m.-1p.m.
Where: Honey Horn Plantation (found at the Coastal Discovery Museum)
What: The traditional farmer’s market spread of seasonal produce can be found here, along with meats, dairy products, and other animal products. Not a big fan of making it all yourself from scratch? Pick up a pie or other baked goods here as well.
Bluffton Artisan Market
When: 2nd Sunday of the month, 1 p.m. – 5 p.m.
Where: Burnt Church Distillery 120 Bluffton Rd.
What: Just outside Hilton Head is a little treat where you can find sweet treasures from local (and not-as-local) artists. What you will discover ranges from soaps and candles to furniture and collectible artwork. Edible goodies sold here, such as kettle corn and candy, will keep your hunger at bay while you shop.
It’s never too early to start Christmas shopping, and it’s always the right time to get a little something for yourself. Treat yourself! Isn’t that what vacation is all about? The artisan and farmer’s markets of Hilton Head Island are a great place to find unique treasures you won’t find at home!
